If those at Sissons Farm get their way, expect mostly warm weather for the rest of the harvest season.
Sissons Farm, located just behind Walmart in Portage la Prairie, has wrapped up its canola and cereals for the year. Their focus has now shifted to edible beans. Blye Sissons says this year's weather has done more good things for them than bad.
"It's been favourable. We got all of our cereals off in August, which is a big big plus," notes Sissons. "Now that we're into September, we're picking away at the beans and soybeans will probably be next week, but they're coming in quick."
Weather-wise, the fieldwork would still benefit from a bit of rain to help moisture levels as their soil has been a little dry, but as long as that gets followed up with warm weather before fall rears its head, the Sissons Farm harvest should be a good one.
