Nettie Yuzdepski
February 2, 1924 – September 10, 2024
The peaceful passing of Nettie (nee Sorokowski) Yuzdepski 100 years, of Saskatoon, occurred on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at St. Paul’s Hospital. Nettie was born on February 2, 1924 to Anton and Justina (nee Benzara) Sorokowski the 12th child out of 15. She attended school in the Alvena area, her education was completed by grade eight. Following school she went to help her sister Olga with domestic duties. In October, 1942 she married Edward Yuzdepski. In 1943, they began to have many moves as Edward continued his education in many different fields. They were blessed with a daughter Lynne in 1954. Nettie was a very hard-working woman, she did all types of jobs on the farm from milking cows to working by Edward’s side in the field. She always had large gardens filled with beautiful flowers and an abundance of produce that she would preserve for the winter months. Nettie was an amazing seamstress and sewed many items and made many quilts for family and friends. Her faith was very important to Nettie and she was very active in her church and spent hours with her rosary in hand. Nettie and Edward enjoyed traveling and went to many destinations in the USA, Yukon, Alaska and various places in Canada. Baba will always be remembered for her delicious Ukrainian dishes that she prepared lovingly for her family, especially her Nalysnyky! A memory her granddaughter Chaelsey will always treasure. Nettie was so thrilled to have a granddaughter and then two great grandchildren, she adored and loved them very much. Nettie’s face would light up every time she was surrounded by her immediate family. In 1976, Nettie and Edward moved to Quill Lake, and in 2009 they moved to Humboldt where she resided until December of 2013 when a move took her to Preston Park in Saskatoon to be close to her family. She adjusted very well to the city life and enjoyed watching people and playing BINGO! Nettie’s final move was to The Palisades Retirement Home in Saskatoon in February 2024 where she lived briefly and was near to her sister Susan who also lived there. Nettie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Lynne (Murray) Pinfold, granddaughter Chaelsey (Devon) Loehr and two great grandchildren Tessa and Daxton; two sisters: Stella Atkin and Susan Michasiw, all of Saskatoon; numerous nieces and nephews. Nettie was predeceased by her parents Anton and Justina (nee Benzara) Sorokowski; husband Edward Yuzdepski and 12 siblings. A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Philip Neri Parish, 1902 Munroe Avenue South, Saskatoon. Interment followed at Quill Lake Cemetery.
