The Vanier Collegiate Vikings are kicking off their 2024 season.
Friday, September 13th, the Vikings will do battle with Lumsden on the road at 4 PM. This is the second season that Vanier is in 9-aside football as they have 30 players on their roster for the season.
"It was a bit of a transition last year. This year we have a new defensive coordinator, and he has brought in a new system and the offense is still clicking away," said Luke Tkatchuk, head coach of the Vikings.
Last week the team locked horns with For Qu'Appelle in a pre-season match-up as Vanier would win with a score of 21-14. Tkatchuk saw a lot of good things from the win but also evaluated where they need to get better as they move throughout the season.
"We're feeling have enough speed but with a young offensive line we're focused on getting stronger," stated Tkatchuk
The first home game for the Vikings is on September 20 at Elks Athletic Field against Notre Dame.
