Work is nearing completion on a new Manitoba Hydro Distribution Supply Station just north of Altona. It's located on Road 9 North approximately one kilometre west of Highway 30.

A spokesperson indicated the infrastructure is being added to meet increased demand for electricity in the area.

Construction began in Spring, and crews are currently installing poles and lines with the expectation the project will be completed at the end of the month. The spokesperson noted with more residential, industrial, and agricultural customers in this growing area, Manitoba Hydro is working to ensure it can continue to supply safe, affordable, and reliable electricity.

Also on the Fall agenda for Manitoba Hydro will be upgrading and replacing some poles in the Rosenfeld area.
