Police in Lloydminster are investigating a triple homicide after discovering three bodies during a wellness check on Wednesday evening.

The grim discovery was made at a home near 50 Street and 47 Avenue just before 6 p.m. The RCMP confirmed during a Thursday afternoon news conference that the individuals responsible for the killings remain at large, but they believe there is no danger to the public.

Insp. Brian Nicholl addressed concerns, stating, "It appears that this is a targeted, isolated incident." He emphasized that while the investigation is ongoing, the general public is not at risk. "If people are not involved in this type of activity or criminal behaviour — and I'm not saying the victims were criminals, as the investigation is still ongoing — there's generally a reason when something is targeted."

Nicholl did not provide further details about the victims, including their identities, genders, or relationships to one another, nor did he confirm whether they lived at the residence. Autopsies are scheduled to take place over the next two days.

"This is the first time I've seen a crime of this magnitude in Lloydminster," Nicholl added.

The investigation is ongoing, with updates expected as more information becomes available.
