The Central Plains RCMP weekly report for the period between September 2 and September 8, covering Portage la Prairie, Treherne, Amaranth, and the surrounding Rural Municipalities, has been released.
The detachment reported 337 calls for service over the 7-day period, an increase from the previous week. Traffic violations were significant, with 137 Highway Traffic Act offences reported, alongside 2 vehicle collisions and 5 impaired drivers.
Crimes against property included 21 thefts, 3 thefts of motor vehicles, 6 break and enters, and 16 incidents of mischief.
In terms of crimes against person, the RCMP responded to 7 assaults, 5 assaults with a weapon, and 7 reports of uttering threats.
Other calls for service included 42 related to provincial statutes such as the Mental Health Act and Child Welfare Act, 32 other criminal investigations, and 54 calls falling under “other police activities,” including false alarms, suspicious persons or vehicles, and assistance provided.
The busiest day for the RCMP was Friday, September 6, when 77 calls for service were recorded.
