A two vehicle collision late Friday afternoon at the junction of Highway 23 and Provincial Road 244, led to a 31 year old woman being transported to hospital via STARS Air Ambulance.

Pembina Valley RCMP, Carman detachment, responded to the call southwest of Altamont at 5:40 p.m., and determined a white van travelling north on PR 244 failed to stop at the stop sign entering Highway 23 and was struck by a westbound SUV.

The woman, who was the passenger in the SUV, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 31-year-old male driver and a 2-year-old female child also in the vehicle were treated and released on scene, with all three occupants from Balmoral.

The 22-year-old female driver of the van, and a 27-year-old male passenger, both Belgian citizens, were injured and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 23, in the area of the collision, was closed Friday night into Saturday morning just before 7 a.m. while the investigation was conducted.

Pembina Valley RCMP continue to investigate.
