Dozens of runners, walkers, strollers and dogs showed up at Sunday's 44th annual Terry Fox run in High River.

Volunteer organizer Brenda McCredie said the weather turned out, as did people showing up to support the cause.

"It was so good this year. We had a record number of participants, and a record number of money raised. Right now, we're at about $4,600 but there's still more coming in. We had about 150 participants. We had the run club again from Joe Clark, so we had about 40 kiddos come out and their parents."

The event began with registration at 9:30 a.m. with the run starting at 10:00 a.m. in George Lane Park.

McCredie added that they had 35 more participants and a few more hundred dollars raised than last year, and she's thrilled the run continues to grow each year.

"Thanks to the community for coming out. We have our regulars, which is fabulous, we even had a few from Calgary because it's more personal here they said, and they love running along the berm."

Since the Terry Fox runs started in the early 80's the Foundation has raised over $900 million.
