Rocky View County (RVC) is looking into establishing a Chamber of Commerce in the Balzac area.
At the latest RVC council meeting, the council voted to receive the "Requirements to Establish a Chamber of Commerce in the Balzac Area" report for information.
They have now instructed the administration to collaborate with businesses interested in establishing a chamber of commerce in Balzac and offer support in the following areas, according to RVC:
- Offer meeting space in County Hall for the parties interested in forming a chamber’s initial meeting(s);
- Facilitate connections between the newly formed chamber and relevant agencies;
- Provide guidance on County policies and procedures; and
- Raise awareness of the chamber formation.
"Council then approved a Motion Arising directing Administration to engage with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce to gain support for a boundary adjustment of the existing Airdrie Regional Chamber of Commerce map to reflect the two municipalities’ interests," stated the RVC Council Decisions for September 10.
Marilyne Aalhus, Executive Director of the Airdrie Regional Chamber of Commerce, shared they are currently waiting to hear back from the Alberta Chamber of Commerce.
"We've actually reached out to the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, and we are just waiting for guidance from the President and CEO."
The Airdrie Chamber is affiliated with the Canadian Chambers of Commerce (CCC), which represents over 200,000 firms, as well as the Alberta Chambers of Commerce (ACC), which represents over 25,000 enterprises.
In a written statement to DiscoverAirdrie, RVC stated it is too early to provide any other details.
