Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has identified the three individuals found dead in a Lloydminster home on September 11, 2024, following a wellness check. The victims of the triple homicide have been confirmed as:

  • Brent Peters (66)
  • Matthew Peters (32)
  • Brennan Peters (34)

The discovery was made by RCMP officers at a home near 50 Street and 47 Avenue just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday. During a news conference on Thursday, RCMP confirmed that while the individuals responsible remain at large, they believe the incident was targeted and isolated, posing no ongoing threat to the public.

Insp. Brian Nicholl addressed the community’s concerns, stating, "It appears that this is a targeted, isolated incident," and reassured residents that there is no risk to the general public. "If people are not involved in this type of activity or criminal behaviour — and I'm not saying the victims were criminals, as the investigation is still ongoing — there's generally a reason when something is targeted."

Although the identities of the victims have now been released, details surrounding their relationships or whether they lived at the residence remain undisclosed. Autopsies are scheduled over the next two days to further assist the investigation.

Nicholl acknowledged the gravity of the situation, noting, "This is the first time I've seen a crime of this magnitude in Lloydminster."

As the investigation continues, RCMP is urging anyone with information related to the murders to contact the Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

More updates are expected as authorities gather additional details.
