SCRAPS is asking the public to consider opening their homes and fostering cats.

Gail Duchak, fundraising coordinator, said that they’ve currently got over 200 cats under their care. “We are calling for fosters for us to continue helping the cats in the community - we desperately need fosters.”

Anyone able to become a foster for cats under SCRAPS’ care can head to the SCRAPS Boutique in the Town N Country Mall Friday through Sunday to fill in an application or check them out on Facebook for more information.

You can also give them a call at 306-684-9048, or email scraps-mj@hotmail.com

Dutchak spoke about the benefits of being a foster, which comes at no cost. “You get to work with a great organization. SCRAPS also does all the vetting, we supply all the food, all the support – we supply everything you absolutely need.”

“You supply the safe, loving environment,” she added.

If you don’t have the ability to foster, you can support the organization in other ways. They’re holding a “SCRAPS & FURRiends Flea Market” this Friday through Sunday by the food court at the Town N Country Mall.

Friday is a flea market for SCRAPS, but they’ll have over 30 vendors joining them on Saturday and Sunday. Items on offer will include floral arrangements, candy, baking, holiday decor, embroidered items, and more.

“All of the funds that we have raised from the vendors joining us is going directly to our trap and neuter program,” explained Duchak.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday, Sept. 20 – SCRAPS flea market 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 21 – Vendor market 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 22 – Vendor market 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
