Young entrepreneurs will have a chance to develop their business idea and possibly win some cash prizes.

YouthBiz, an exciting and fun competition for students in Grades six to 12 from southeast Saskatchewan, can learn about entrepreneurship, develop financial skills, and connect with the business community.

Whether it's a business idea for fun or is entirely feasible, competitors can come up with a business idea, plan how to make it happen, figure out the costs, and create marketing materials. The YouthBiz competition has been running since 2007, with more than 3,500 students taking part. Last year alone, Community Futures Sunrise awarded $4,300 in prize money for the most creative, well-planned business ideas.

Prizes for first place are $500, and $300 for second place, $200 for third. There will also be a chance to win bonus prizes.

Participants need to complete the intake form by October 4th, and then submit all six modules by November 15th at 1:00 p.m. Find the forms HERE.

Note, it is important to double-check the documents, as points will be deducted for spelling and grammar mistakes.

Teachers who would like a personal information session, virtual or in-person, for their classrooms, can send an email to youthbiz@cfsunrise.ca throughout October.

The goal of YouthBiz is for young people to 'think like an entrepreneur'. They are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, take risks, and use their creativity to build on their ideas.

Anyone who may be experiencing technical difficulties with the process can send an email to youthbiz@cfsunrise.ca.
