The Tiger Hills Hockey League will operate with 13 teams this upcoming season and a long-standing franchise in the area will not be one of them. The Gladstone Lakers confirmed they would take a one-year leave of absence at the league's fall meeting Monday night in Wawanesa. Two other league mainstays will do the same, the Pilot Mound Pilots and Wawanesa Jets.
Players who suited up for Gladstone in the past who still want to play will be free to join any team that would want them and geographically, MacGregor and Neepawa would logically be two good options.
Returning teams have been split into two divisions.
The MacGregor Wild will be back for another year and they will operate in the 6 team East Division. The Wild finished last season with a 9-9 record which was good for 4th in the division. Joining the Wild will be the Killarney Shamrocks, Rivers Jets, Carberry Plainsmen, Neepawa Farmers and Minnedosa Bombers.
The Boissevain Border Kings, Deloraine Royals, Virden Oil Kings, Souris Elks, Hartney Blues, Melita Bisons and defending champion Miniota/Elkhorn C-Hawks will play in the 7 team West Division.
Each team will play an 18-game schedule. The 2024-25 season begins October 25th.
