The Central Plains RCMP weekly report for the period between September 9 and September 15, covering Portage la Prairie, Treherne, Amaranth, and the surrounding Rural Municipalities, has been released.

The detachment reported 286 calls for service over the 7-day period, a decrease from the previous week, which had 337 calls. Traffic violations remained notable, with 86 Highway Traffic Act offences reported, alongside 2 vehicle collisions, but no impaired drivers.

Crimes against property included 23 thefts, 4 thefts of motor vehicles, 5 break and enters, and 15 incidents of mischief.

In terms of crimes against persons, the RCMP responded to 9 assaults, 4 assaults with a weapon, and 5 reports of uttering threats.

Other calls for service included 33 related to provincial statutes such as the Mental Health Act and Child Welfare Act, 47 other criminal investigations, and 53 calls categorized under “other police activities,” including false alarms, suspicious persons or vehicles, and assistance provided.

The busiest day for the RCMP was Tuesday, September 10, when 55 calls for service were recorded.
