Four siblings from Calgary became $1 million richer after winning the August 16 Lotto Max draw.

Theresa Lowe, Eliza Poon, Christina Louie, and Joseph Wong have been playing the lottery together for over a decade.

The siblings were stunned to discover that they had won.

“We had a hard time believing we won until we got a call from the lottery office confirming our win,” said Lowe. “And even after that, we were still in disbelief.”

They started by purchasing lottery tickets at the store before switching to Subscription Spot so they wouldn't miss a draw.

“Together, we always hoped to win, but we didn’t expect it,” Lowe continued. “The reality of it does feel just like a dream.”

According to a news release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, players who are a part of Subscription Spot will receive a phone call if they win a major prize, while regular ticket purchasers must confirm their winnings manually, either through the phone or by scanning it at a store.

The siblings are the third Calgarian lottery winners in the last month, with Ge Ann Bareng winning $1.3 million, and Josephine Leduc winning $1 million just a few days ago.
