It's been a very busy week for Manitoba Hydro crews, with multiple rounds of severe weather Monday night into Tuesday morning leading to extensive outages across the region.

A spokesperson says, at its peak around 6am, more than 2,500 customers in the Red River Valley were without power. The outages were related to the storm activity that had rumbled through the area early Tuesday morning.

Crews made repairs safely, and had the power back on across most of the region by noon. Smaller outages were dealt with until about 10pm last night.

The spokesperson noted heavy storm activity like we've had recently can weaken tree branches, so we may see fallen tree branches and additional outages. A reminder... if you see a power line that's been knocked down, stay at least 10 metres away, and call 911 and Manitoba hydro immediately.
