On Sunday, Airdrie Special Olympics held its annual awards event showcasing the memorable year they had.

Sue Farkas-Fillatre, the media relations coordinator with Airdrie Special Olympics wrote to DiscoverAirdrie stating they had a great time at the event and that the coaches wish they were able to hand out more awards than just two per sport.

Looking forward to the 2024-25 season, a couple of changes have been made, floor hockey will now be ball hockey. A new eight-week program will also be introduced called the Active Start Program.

Active Start is a program within Special Olympics that focuses on the younger ages (three to seven) who are not yet old enough for the main program sports. It will focus on the basic movements involved in all sports.
