"It was a very successful summer in three different areas," says Arts Administrator Giselle Beaupre at the Heritage Home for the Arts in Killarney.

The Youth Art Camp:

"Our Youth Art Camp ran every afternoon under the direction of Miss Ava Blair who was working with us for the third summer in a row," explains Beaupre.  "As it turns out it will be her last summer as she is now in Grade 12 and getting ready for all kinds of other things!"

The program had full classes most every day, with only a handful of sessions that weren't full.

Summer Art Exhibitions:

"Our summer exhibitions were really well attended and lots of fun as well. In July we hosted Elaine Rawlings from Hamiota and her show was called 'Rural Ruins'.  She paints abandoned buildings in Manitoba, and her art was just beautiful and very well received."

The August exhibition was a compilation of 3 different artists who were related to each other.  "A local lady, Sandy Phillips, put a show together with her grandfather's work which is oil painting, and her cousin's work which is pencil drawings of famous people.  And Sandy herself is a photographer, so that was the third medium in the show."

"Both months were really fun and we had a lot of people coming and going for both of those shows," she adds.

Music on the Porch:

Beaupre says Music on the Porch began in May (indoors) and ended early this month (indoors) at the Legion.

"In between we had some really successful evenings of live music outside in the yard," she shares. "And we really appreciated our performers and our audiences.  It was just a really great line-up with some really great evenings."
