It was a busy morning for Winnipeg fire crews as they battled a pair of house fires just hours apart.
The first fire broke out just before 1:30 a.m. in a two-storey home in the 200 block of Ruby Street.
Smoke was seen coming from the house when firefighters arrived. It took about a half-hour to get the fire under control.
Everyone was able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.
It's believed the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction.
Around 3:15 a.m., a second fire broke out in a vacant boarded-up home in the 300 block of Nairn Avenue.
As the structure was too unsafe to enter, fire crews launched a defensive fire attack, battling the blaze from outside of the building.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
