The Farmer's Almanac predicts that Thanksgiving, October 14, will be wet for the prairies and British Columbia, and Halloween may also be soggy. Still, as usual, nothing is set in stone, especially regarding Alberta weather.

The Farmer's Almanac long-range extended forecast predicts that the prairies will experience more light showers for several days. The month will close with showers and rain preceding a shot of cold air from the Rockies. A developing storm system will bring rainy weather for the Prairies, progressing east, followed by an early-season frost or freeze.

The beginning of October will bring cold rains over the Rockies, spreading east across the region, bringing dry and cool weather. Mid-Ocotober, including Thanksgiving, will have milder weather with 'widely scattered showers dampening the Thanksgiving weekend.'

The latter part of October may see rain or wet snow (over the highest terrain) for the Rockies. Come November, predictions stated that '... The Prairies Autumn may feel more like winter with frigid temperatures.'

Some key dates that the Farmer's Almanac has highlighted include November 8-11, which some forecasts call for a potential early-season, heavy snowfall for the Prairies and Quebec (followed by very cold conditions).

While winter is still a ways away—93 days away, to be exact—it appears that this year's winter will be what the Farmer's Almanac has dubbed a 'Wet Winter Whirlwind.' The Farmers’ Almanac 2025 winter forecast for Canada predicts a season of persistent rain and snow influenced by La Niña.

Two-thirds of the country, especially from the Prairies to Ontario, will experience colder-than-normal temperatures. The coldest period is expected in late January through early February, with frigid Arctic air hitting the Prairies hardest.
