Kai Gaudet shines as the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week, being handed the honour on September 18 for his outstanding soccer, volleyball, and golf performances.
The MacGregor Collegiate Institute (MCI) Grade 12 student started by leading the Mustangs soccer team to a 3-0 victory, scoring all three goals.
Gaudet followed that up by captaining the Mustangs' volleyball team to the Championship of the Treherne Invitational. Lastly, he represented the Mustangs golf team at the Zone 7 Golf Championships and trained for the Zone 7 Cross Country Championships.
"The work that I put in by myself when nobody's looking is what has got me here, and to be recognized for that really feels great," says Gaudet. "I wouldn't be there without my teammates, that's for sure."
While he is a multi-sport athlete, Gaudet has shared that his main passion is volleyball, and he is looking to continue playing after his senior year in MacGregor. The athlete of the week winner was a key factor in the Mustangs winning the Treherne Invitational this past weekend but gave all the credit to his teammates.
"With the group of guys we have, we just come to practice and work hard all the time and to start off with a bang like winning in Treherne means a lot."
During the school year, Gaudet also participates in Basketball, Badminton, and Baseball. It isn't just athletics that the Grade 12 MCI student takes pride in, as he has been an honour roll student throughout his MCI tenure.
