Both Carson Inman and Kenny Keeler of the Portage Golf Club have had successful seasons on the golf course. In fact at the Men's Open in late July Keeler took home the title with Inman coming in second. Thursday, the duo teamed up instead of competing against each other and the result was another title.

Inman and Keeler won Golf Manitoba's Men’s Four-Ball Championship played out at the Grand Pines course northeast of Winnipeg. The duo ended up with a six-under par 66 to finish one shot ahead of Aaron and Cam McIntyre of Rossmere. The team of Matt Glowa of Winnipeg and Chris Plishka of Fisher Branch were also one shot off the pace.

Inman says he and Keeler are friends and while they are used to competing against each other in many events, it was nice to be able to team up for a win.

"We always seem to be close to each other in the Portage events. He won the Men's Open and I won the Club Championship. Now we had a chance to win together. In this event you use the lowest score from the two of us on each hole and it seemed to click. If I had a rough hole, he had a good one and vice-versa. We started a little slow and there was a rain delay but after that, things just started clicking. Following the delay we had an eagle and it was lots of birdies after that. One of us was always on for each hole."

Murray Cairns and Quentin Neff of Portage finished in 24th place at plus two. While there is still a few weeks left in the season, many courses in the area will close for the year over the next month. A 4 person member appreciation scramble is planned for the Portage course in early October.

The Portage Collegiate female golf team is competing for the high school provincial championship in Morden today as well. Ella Harkness, Brooke Henderson, Lexi Henderson and Kora Montour will represent the school after winning the zone championship earlier this week.
