The folks in Watson lined up to the burger bar at the New Horizons Centre on Thursday, September 19 to support the newly announced Watson Long Term Care Home and health care centre.

Chair of the Quill Plains Health Centre Foundation Norma Weber said they were grateful for the announcement of a new integrated care home and health centre, but the increased cost means there is more work to do on the fundraising front as a result.

“It’s going to be a 60-bed facility,” Weber announced to the noon hour crowd. “It will have a health centre side to it, which means we will have doctors’ offices with lab and x-ray.”

Weber told the crowd that it comes with a hefty price tag, the exact value of which is being determined through the design process.

“So let your imaginations roll on,” Weber encouraged, “Because we have millions of dollars to raise. Please support anything you see going on, and if you have any ideas for fundraisers, we’d be happy to help you with it.”

Future location of the new Watson long term care and health facility is just north of the existing structures.

Weber suggested the start date on the construction would be in the spring of 2026, and the Foundations and municipal portions would need to be in place prior to construction beginning. The proposed location for the new facility is just north of the existing Centennial Lodge and Watson Health Centre.
