Fresh off their win for Alternative Country Album of the Year at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards and exciting performances at the SaskTel Jazz Festival in Saskatoon and the Gateway Festival in Bengough, Last Birds are preparing to embark on their October Moon Tour. The folk duo from North Portal, consisting of Mike Davis and Lindsay Arnold, will take their music across Western Canada and Ontario before wrapping up the tour with a special performance in Arcola, Sask.
The tour kicks off at BreakOut West in Saskatoon from September 25 to 29, a key music conference and festival that highlights Western Canadian talent. “We’ll be able to show our music off to some industry people. Hopefully, we’ll get some bookings for festivals next summer. We’re really excited to be going there,” Arnold shared on SUN 102 Morning Show.
After performing at the Folk Music Ontario conference in Mississauga from October 3 to 6, Last Birds will make their debut in Alberta with shows at the Velvet Olive in Red Deer on October 16 and the Ironwood Stage and Grill on the 17.
As the tour wraps up, Last Birds will perform at the Mac Murray Theatre in Arcola on October 26, a beautifully renovated venue that holds special significance for the duo. Arnold shared her enthusiasm for the venue: “It’s such a nice building, beautifully renovated, and we’re really looking forward to being able to highlight one of our SE Saskatchewan venues.” Davis added, “We played a show there with JJ Voss probably two years ago, and the sound is great. It’s such a cool venue. I encourage people to come check it out.”
