At around 3:35 a.m., police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on southbound Deerfoot Trail Southeast near the Peigan Trail interchange.
According to Calgary police, a white 2015 GMC Savana van struck the median’s concrete barrier, veered across three lanes, and collided with the Peigan Trail overpass before flipping onto its roof.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was rushed to the hospital. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors but are looking into whether speed played a role.
The collision shut down a portion of Deerfoot Trail early this morning, although it has since been reopened.
