Steinbach Regional captured the Miles Mac Invitational junior varsity boys volleyball tournament this past weekend. The Sabres defeated the Dakota Lancers 11-25, 25-23, 15-12 in the final. Gabrielle Roy defeated Oak Park 25-20, 25-23 in the final of the Pembina Trails varsity boys volleyball tournament.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added American offensive lineman Jake Hornibrook to the practice roster and released American quarterback Bryan Scott. The Bombers (9-6) can clinch first place in the CFL West with a win over the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton on Friday and a Saskatchewan (7-7-1) loss to the Elks in Edmonton on Saturday.
The Winnipeg Jets have assigned goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis and forwards Parker Ford & Daniel Torgersson to the Manitoba Moose. Forwards Colby Barlow and Brayden Yager were loaned to their junior clubs. The Jets play their fifth of six exhibition games Wednesday night at home against the Calgary Flames.
The Canadian women's rugby team has moved up to second in the world rankings after posting a 46-24 weekend win over number four France Sunday in Vancouver. The victory came on the opening day of the top-tier WXV tournament. Canada moved past New Zealand, which slipped to third after a 29-27 loss to Ireland to open the tournament.
