The 2021 CP Holiday Train has been shifted to a virtual concert event for the second year in a row.
Salem Woodrow, a Canadian Pacific Spokesperson said the decision to shift the event virtual wasn’t easy.
“We are all disappointed, but the spirit of the holiday train program and the Christmas spirit will carry on this year through our virtual concert. We are eager to bring the holiday train back to our communities in Canada and the United States to spread holiday cheer in 2022 and for many years to come,” said Woodrow.
CP will be making donations this year to the food bank beneficiaries that would have received a contribution had the train gone forward. CP will also make donations to food banks that benefit from the train every other year due to our alternating Holiday Train schedules in some areas.
Woodrow added that even though the train isn’t in person this year the event is very important to the communities it serves.
“We're very proud of this important community initiative and the role that it plays in supporting local food banks and their ongoing battle against hunger. We very much appreciate that folks are able to donate to their local food bank, even though the holiday train isn't coming this year,” added Woodrow.
The concert will air sometime in December in support of food banks in Canada and the U.S, and the details will be announced when they become available next month.
Since 1999, the CP Holiday Train program has raised more than $19.4 million and collected more than 4.9 million pounds of food for food banks.
