Time passes as you wait in traffic, attempting to get through the construction in Headingley, as you have been for months. However, according to the province, the congestion issues will soon be alleviated, at least for winter driving.
PortageOnline reached out to the Manitoba Government regarding the construction project just outside Winnipeg and when motorists can expect to use both lanes again.
A provincial spokesperson gave the following statement in an email:
"Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is currently completing a surface construction project along the Trans-Canada Highway in Headingley from Provincial Road (PR) 334 to 0.8 km west of the intersection. Work will continue until the end of the 2024 construction season, at which time all lanes will be opened to traffic for the winter."
The statement noted that the remaining work in the area will be completed next year.
