Strathmore is getting its first taste of sub-zero temperatures this season.
According to our weather forecast, Wednesday night is expected to reach an overnight low of -2 C alongside some light winds.
Alysa Pederson, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), said these temperatures are not unusual for this time of the year.
"The average for Calgary is around September 21 we'll see the overnight low temperatures drop below zero," said Pederson. "So, coming into October is right around the realm of normal for us."
Thursday morning is also expected to be quite cold. Despite the daytime high of 16 C, the morning will bring temperatures that feel closer to -6 C with the windchill.
However, temperatures aren't expected to be reaching sub-zero in the daytime until later in the month.
"Late October and into November is when we see daytime highs reach around 4 or 5 C, and it's really December when it's below zero for daytime highs," added Pederson.
