The U18 AAA Weyburn Gold Wings were looking for their first win of the young season Saturday afternoon as they entertained the Prince Albert Bears at Crescent Point Place. The Gold Wings would get a stellar performance between the pipes from Tila Boyd while three players found the back of the net as Weyburn went on to a 3-0 victory.
The Gold Wings opened the scoring late in the first period, as Jade Olszewski put the puck behind Bears goalie Annika Neufeldt with 3:03 remaining in the period. Her goal was assisted by Hallie Parada.
Late in the second period, the Gold Wings would get a goal from Julia Durr. Her tally with 4:27 remaining was assisted by Peyton Halayka.
The scoring was rounded out just 1:39 into the third. Captain Kiah Shields would score to make it 3-0. Kadence Dansereau had the assist on the marker.
In the net, Boyd would stop all 42 of the shots she faced to record her first U18 AAA shutout.
The two teams will meet again Sunday afternoon at Crescent Point Place. The game starts at 2 p.m.
