The host Broncos defeated Elm Creek 25-23, 25-15 in the final of the Boissevain varsity girls high school volleyball tournament. Neelin boys and Vincent Massey girls captured the Viking Classic varsity volleyball tournaments in Brandon. The Spartans swept Vincent Massey  25-23, 25-23 in the boys final while the Vikings beat Reston 25-15, 25-16 in the girls final. The Warren Wildcats defeated the Carberry Cougars 25-15, 25-22 in the final of the Killarney Raiders junior varsity girls volleyball tournament. The Neelin Spartans downed the host Tigers 25-22, 25-20 in the final of the Neepawa junior varsity boys volleyball tournament. 


The Westman Wildcats scored seven times in the second period en route to an 8-0 victory over the Interlake Lightning in their home opener Sunday in Souris. Ivy Perkin had a hat trick for Westman while singles went to Jaedyn Hoemsen, Charlie Shearer, Payton Smith, Reese Schutte and Lucy Waldner who also chipped in with four assists. Indigo Stone made 17 saves in recording the shutout for the Wildcats who went 2-0 on the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League's opening weekend. 


Slater Anderson scored the lone goal for the Southwest Cougars in their 4-1 loss to the Interlake Lightning in Teulon. Cougars netminder Micky gross faced 43 shots. Southwest has two wins and three losses heading into week three of the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League season.


The Manitoba Moose have assigned forward Ryan Chyzowski and defenseman Darick Louis-Jean to the hockey club's ECHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. Forwards Sean Montgomery and Sang Hoon Shin along with blueliners Josh McDougall, Andrew McLean and Carson Musser have been released from their tryout agreements and will report to Norfolk. Manitoba's current roster stands at 25 players including 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.


Kerri Einarson and Bruce Mouat captured the Grand Slam of Curling's Tour Challenge in Charlottetown. Einarson, Val Sweeting, Dawn McEwen & Krysten Karwacki defeated reigning world champion Rachel Homan 5-4 in the women's final. It's the sixth Grand Slam of Curling title for Einarson. Mouat bounced defending Canadian champion Brad Gushue 10-3 in the men's final.
