U13 AA Gold Wings Open Season with a Thriller

The U13 AA Young Fellows Gold Wings started their season in Regina on Saturday, taking on the Regina Rebels White squad. The two teams, who played two overtime games in their best-of-three playoff series last season, had trouble solving things in regulation this time as well, as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Gold Wings started the game with a goal with 3:37 left in the second period. Abigail Jutras tallied, with Sakoda Seitz getting the assist on the goal.

Regina replied when Gabrielle Shynkaruk scored just 22 seconds later.

In the third period, Juliet Palanuik scored for the Rebels to make it 2-1, but then a late goal from Jorja Rutledge with 1:41 to play evened things up at 2-2. Harlow Ludwig had the assist on the game-tying goal.

The U13 AA Gold Wings are back on the ice on October 20th as they host the Rebels White.

U15 AA Wings Clipped by Generals in High-Scoring Affair

The U15 AA Annugas Wings played Sunday evening, as they took on the Saskatoon Generals at Crescent Point Place. The two teams were evenly matched through the opening 20 minutes but then the Generals took over, skating to a 7-4 win.

Preston Leier opened the scoring for the Wings just 1:43 into the game, with Easton Spagrud and Kobe Deck assisting. The Generals would tie things up at 6:11 when Damma Ramazanov scored.

The Wings again took the lead early in the second period as Rylan Meier scored at the 6:41 mark of the frame. His tally was assisted by Bennett Weger. The Generals, though, would answer back with three goals, including two power play goals, in just over five minutes. Bevan Swan would score the two power play goals, with Bodhi Nieman also finding the back of the net.

In the third period, Weyburn again scored the first goal of the period as Spagrud netted a marker of his own. The power play goal just 1:37 into the period was assisted by Steele Ozmun and Levi Lillejord. Then, Davyn Aspaas would score for the Wings to even the game. The power play goal, coming at the 8:09 mark of the final period, was assisted by Reg Huebner and Ayden Warren.

The Generals, though, would take things over. Duncan Mitchell would tally, with Swan finishing off the hat trick to make it 6-4. An empty-net goal with two seconds remaining closed out the scoring.

The next game for the U15 AA Annugas Wings will be Friday, as they are on the road to play Prairie Storm.

Parkland Fire Scorches U15 AA Gold Wings

The U15 AA Whitecap Resources Gold Wings were coming off a strong preseason and were looking to get an early win as they kicked off their regular season Saturday in Melville against Parkland Fire. The Fire, though, had other plans, as they came out firing. Capitalizing on three power play goals, Parkland Fire won the game 8-1.

The home side had a hat trick from Avery Lammers, with Jade Rumancik scoring twice. Harper Danchilla, Abby Korolek and Jersey Kittelson also scored for Parkland Fire.

The lone goal for the Gold Wings came 1:43 into the third period when Olivia Von Sprecken scored her first of the season, unassisted.

Kmita's hat trick fuels U18 AA Gold Wings' fiery victory

The U18 AA Apex Gold Wings travelled to Melville to start the 2024-25 campaign with a game against Parkland Fire. The Gold Wings would jump out to a lead in the first period, and never looked back, as they went on to a 7-3 victory.

The scoring started for the Gold Wings when Brooke McKinnon found the back of the net on the power play 6:08 into the first period. Alex Reid and Ella Schenher had the assists on the goal. This was followed up with a goal from Tyra Kmita with 5:53 to play in the first. Bostyn Runge and Natalie Molde had the assists.

Schenher would then make it a 3-0 game 57 seconds into the second period, with Reid recording the assist.

Parkland Fire would then get on the board as Bryn Hanna scored, making it 3-1. The response from the Gold Wings, though, was three more goals.

Runge scored a goal of her own 8:21 into the second period, assisted by Samara Seghers and Kmita. Then, Schenher notched her second of the night, assisted by Runge. Kmita added another goal with 1:41 to play in the second, assisted by Seghers and Emma Holzer, as the Gold Wings went up 6-1.

In the third period, Parkland Fire started to rally back with two goals in less than three minutes. Jessica Madsen and Jorja Zarowny would find the net, but 6-3 would be as close as they would get.
