The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is asking Winnipeggers to vigilant after a vacant two-storey home was set ablaze for a third time in three years.

The latest fire happened on Sunday, just before 4:30 p.m. When crews arrived, smoke was pouring out of the home located in the 500 block of Bannatyne Avenue.

Crews were able to enter the home and fight the fire from inside, declaring it under control about 20 minutes later.

No one was in the house when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.

The house had previously been damaged by fire in April 2023 and June 2021.

The WFPS is asking anyone who sees someone actively entering a vacant structure or removing boards from windows or doors, to call 911.

Anyone who sees that boarded windows or doors have been breached, but did not see someone entering or attempting to enter a structure is encouraged to report it to 311.

The cause of Sunday's fire remains under investigation.
