The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings split a series over the weekend.
The Kings walked away with a win against the Red Deer Vipers 8-1 and suffered a tough loss to the Cannex Cochrane Generals 5-4. Both games were played at home.
General Manager of the Kings, Cody Holdaway talked about the results of the two bouts.
"We took Red Deer 8-1 on Friday night at home, which was a good outcome. Saturday night we just came up short. We were one goal shy of pulling off the win against Cochrane."
Holdaway says the Kings have had a good start to the season.
"On Saturday night we had a little bit of a reality check, and the reality is that you have to hate losing more than you like winning."
The team will now get ready to take on the Carstar Okotoks Bisons on Friday (Oct. 11) at the Murray & Piper Arena and the following night back home at the Strathmore Family Centre Arena versus the Sylvan Lake Wranglers. Both games are at 8 p.m.
Holdaway says the team is prepping for the weekend.
"We're doing our regular practice schedule, but I think (head coach) Doug Raycroft's going to work on some of the downfalls that may have happened in Saturday's game. We're always looking to improve and get better."
The Kings have four wins and one loss on the season.
