The Kindersley Klippers had a great weekend of hockey, going up against the Humboldt Broncos both Friday and Saturday.
Friday’s game was a battle, with the game going into overtime. A lot of action, high speed, and physical play made for a great display of hockey athleticism on both sides of the ice.
The game was extremely close with overtime looming. It wouldn’t last long, though, as Will Christian came from the far end. It was 3-on-0 with Brock Evans and Jaxon Herchak supporting the breakaway.
This gave Christian the chance to hit the gas and outmanoeuvre the goalie to break the tie.
The game ended with the Klippers winning 3-2 against the Broncos.
But that wasn’t the end of it. The Broncos wanted revenge, and they had their chance at home on Saturday.
Saturday, Humboldt had the energy of the crowd on their side, pumping up their defence and taking advantage of Kindersley’s power play right out of the gate. Jacob Strizzi for the Broncos was on fire, scoring two of the four goals of the night.
Camden Cunningham, with the help of Jaxon Herchak and Zakery Anderson, took advantage of a power play, scoring early in the third period, making sure things would not end in a shutout.
Humbolt took the 4-1 win
It’s not the end for the Klippers, though. They are already up four games with only two losses at the moment. The next chance to watch them will be at home on Wednesday against the Notre Dame Hounds at 7:30 p.m.
