Other important road work that might impact your commute

Until the end of this month, drivers using Highway 567 westbound near the QEII should prepare for ongoing construction and delays. Steel girder repair work is underway and expected to continue 24 hours a day until November 1.

The construction began on September 17 and affects the on and off ramps from the QEII due to lane closures on westbound Highway 567.

Motorists can expect a speed reduction, no-passing zones, flag persons directing traffic, and an on-site detour. Drivers are advised to be prepared to stop and obey all posted signage to ensure safety throughout the area.

Although work on the water mains in Crossfield has been paused, the Town is reminding residents that a previous road closure will remain in effect on Tuesday.

According to 511, Highway 574, also known as Limit Avenue, in Crossfield is scheduled to be closed for water main work on October 8, 2024. The closure will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., and all lanes will be completely shut down to facilitate the maintenance activities.

Drivers should expect traffic congestion and delays as all lanes on Highway 574 will be inaccessible. Local road detours will be in place to help manage the flow of vehicles through the area. An additional detour route has been set up for heavy truck traffic to reduce congestion and ensure safety.

Commuters are advised to use alternate routes during the closure to minimize delays. Drivers should plan their routes and allow extra time for travel, especially during peak hours. The detours aim to provide the most efficient paths around the affected area, but delays are expected.

While water main work was initially scheduled to begin on October 7, it will pause for the entire day today before resuming at the specified time.
