A bright and friendly week is expected for Portage la Prairie's weather, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Meteorologist Stephen Berg, who spoke with PortageOnline about the upcoming work week.
"It looks like there's going to be a bit of warmth building in by midweek, especially temperatures look like they'll be into the low to mid-20s by Wednesday and Thursday with the overnight lows into the five or seven-degree mark. That's about anywhere up to about ten degrees above normal, with overnight lows of about five degrees above normal."
He notes there will be a cooldown by the end of the week before temperatures swing back up early next week. Berg explains why we can expect to see this kind of warmth in the middle of the week.
"It's generally from a pronounced ridge building across Western Canada moving slowly east. The main access to the ridge will be over the top of southern Manitoba from Tuesday into Thursday."
While the weekend was very windy and wet, the meteorologist says the coming week will be mostly sunny with little precipitation to report.
"Generally quite a sunny period for the week," Berg continues. "Enjoy the heat while it lasts. We don't know when it's going to be going away for good for the season. So yeah, definitely take advantage of it."
