The Strathmore Spartans are gearing up to host the Bowness Trojans on Thursday (Oct. 10).

The Spartans will be playing at the Strathmore High School football field, with kickoff set for 5 p.m.

"The Trojans are first place in the Division 2 Calgary High School Football League," said Danny Warrack, head coach of the Spartans.

The game follows the Spartans' first win of the season, beating the Crescent Heights Cowboys 59-13.

"It sounds like the Trojans had a tight game with Crescent Heights a few weeks ago, so we're expecting it to be a good, competitive game," added Warrack.

According to Warrack, the team will be checking out the Trojans' film to get a better look at how the Calgary team plays and to adjust the Spartans' playstyle based on the Trojans' weaknesses.

"Being a young team that's struggled a little bit, we've spent a lot of time watching more film properly and being versatile in our schemes."

The game is free to attend and is open to all ages.
