Winnipeg will be filled with uplifting messages this week, as the Love Notes Campaign drops a 'Love Bomb' on our city.

150 love notes will be dropped off across Winnipeg on Thursday as part of World Mental Health Day to raise awareness about mental health and to support those battling mental health issues.

Artists from Winnipeg and beyond collaborated to create the special notes after a public call on social media. The notes, which spread messages of hope and healing, will be delivered to public spaces, businesses and community hubs by 'Love Elves,' with the goal of reaching as many people as possible.

"The world needs more love," said Winnipeg actor Veronica Ternopolski. "Love Notes can help people take a second to be present and connect with the words of another Winnipegger in positivity.”

Winnipegger Ralph Bryant came up with the Love Notes Campaign this past summer as a token of appreciation for his adopted city.

“I loved the response from dropping off the Love Notes this summer—the conversations it evoked and the way it made people feel,” said Ralph, who is working on a documentary about his mental health journey. “But I disliked how they looked. I'm a writer, not an artist. I'm grateful to have help from creatives all over the world this time.”

Bryant says this is just the start of the campaign. He says it will continue with a Fall in Love with Mental Health event on Valentine's Day next year, which will feature conversations, movement exercises and activities to improve mental fitness.
