Members of the Virden Theatre Production are delving deep into practicing acting, song and dance as they prepare for their next performance on stage.
Many might remember this movie from 2003 where mom and daughter aren't getting along so well and through a series of events end up switching bodies, and then the mayhem begins!
Stage Director, Dean Munchinsky, says there is lots of singing and dancing, and lots of laughs.
"It's somewhat magical," he says. "The mom and the daughter switch bodies and then experience each other's stresses and challenges and then find new respect and admiration for each other, and there's a lot of fun along the way! It's a hoot!"
Munchinsky says they have some long-time performers joining them again as well as some new faces taking their turn on stage.
"We've got adults and youth from the community putting the show together. We're running about 35 people on stage and then behind the scenes we've got about another 20 or so people helping with sets, costumes and support."
He says sometimes musicals are looked at as being shallower, without much depth, "but as we're going through this, it's wonderful to see the depth of characters coming out and the different emotional journeys and fun and excitement, adventure and laughter! It truly is a real hoot!"
In addition to a new musical for this theatre group to showcase, the audience will be able to enjoy new seating at the infamous Virden Aud.
The seats dated back to the days of building the Aud over a century ago have been replaced with wider, cushioned seats. Munchinsky says this is exciting to offer their patrons and has been a project they've been working on for a couple of years.
