This morning, most of the traffic cones used during construction of the rejuvenation project on Saskatchewan Avenue West are now gone! That clearly indicates that construction is winding down in this part of Portage la Prairie.
Mayor Sharilyn Knox explains they're in the final stages of the project.
"Three years, and we're coming to the end. We have a little bit of time before the project gets turned over from the construction and contractors over to the City. So, you'll see finalized touches done by them such as landscaping, etc. But just like everyone, I'm counting, as I see less and less delineators and pylons on the avenue. It feels like it's coming to an end."
She adds the City will be announcing the full completion of the project and there will be somewhat of a celebration for it.
"We're just grateful for the community support on this and the business support. We're really thrilled to see the improvements that businesses have made to their storefronts along the Saskatchewan Ave. project. It just showed that commitment to improvements for beautification in our city."
