An invite into a residence resulted in an arrest and seizures of drugs.
In a news release from the Central Plains RCMP, just before noon on October 6, Portage la Prairie RCMP attended an address in the 800 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West in search of a suspect who had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest.
Police were invited into the residence where a number of people where located, however, not the suspect being sought.
Police observed drugs in plain sight and a man looked to very anxious and attempting to conceal something. The man was not following the commands of the officers and was placed under arrest.
The police secured the man, and during a search, located 24 grams of suspected fentanyl, an undisclosed amount of cash and several other items indicating trafficking drugs.
Jeremy Whincup, 53, of Amaranth, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
As of the time of the news release, he remained in custody.
