Four Zone 4 teams will play in the finals at the Provincial A-AA-AAA High School Soccer championships today in Minnedosa. The Garden Valley Zodiacs will meet the Miller Aces in the girls final while the Morden Thunder will face GVC in the boys final. Morden girls will take on Niverville in the third place game.
Mason Leite scored twice as the Morden Thunder defeated the Carman Cougars 3-1. Logan Enns also found the back of the net for the defending Zone 4 High School Hockey League champions. Brody Benner had the lone goal for the Cougars.
The Pembina Valley Hawks dropped a 4-2 decision to the Yellowhead Chiefs in Shoal Lake. Adrien McIntosh and Gavin Rondeau did the goal scoring for the Hawks who meet the defending Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League champion Brandon Wheat Kings in Morden.
The Pembina Valley Twisters losing streak has reached three games. Pembina Valley fell 5-2 to the Stonewall Jets. Owen Vanrobaeys and Mike Heppner scored for the Twisters.
The Brandon Wheat Kings lost 6-1 to the Medicine Hat Tigers. Brady Turko had the lone goal for the Wheat Kings who face the Hurricanes in Lethbridge tonight.
The Winnipeg Jets won their home opener. Mark Scheifele scored his 299th and 300th career goals in the Jets 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Scheifele scored the tying goal with 64 seconds left in regulation and then potted the winner 38 seconds into overtime.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers eight-game winning streak came to an end Friday night. The Bombers lost 14-11 to the Toronto Argonauts. The Bombers are 10-7 and will clinch first place in the CFL West if the BC Lions beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders tonight. With last night's win, the Argos joined the Montreal Alouettes and Ottawa Redblacks in the East Division playoffs.
