The Niverville Panthers will play in the third place games today at the Provincial A-AA-AAA High School Soccer championships in Minnedosa. Niverville girls will face Morden and Niverville boys will take on the host Chancellors. Garden Valley of Winkler will take on Miller Collegiate of Altona in the girls final while Morden will face GVC in the boys final.


The Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League’s 38th season got underway Friday night – Andrew Thompson had a goal and two assists as the Macdonald Swarm downed the Grunthal Red Wings 7-2. Sebastien Frechette and Carter Braun did the goal scoring for the Wings.


The La Broquerie Habs lost their home opener 5-1 to Beausejour. Nikolas Bear had two goals and an assist for the Comets. Connor Tallaire had the lone goal for the Habs. Logan Fillion scored four times and Damon Johnson had three goals and three assists as the defending Capital Region Junior Hockey League champion St. Malo Warriors shutdown the North Winnipeg Satelites 15-0.


The Steinbach Pistons meet the Niverville Nighthawks tonight at the HyLife Centre in La Broquerie. Last night the Nighthawks lost 1-0 to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.


The Eastman Selects are 3-0 to start the 2024-25 Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League season. Danyel Heppner and Reese Beavis did the goal scoring and Addison Tomes made 31 saves in the Selects 2-1 victory over the Interlake Lightning.


The Brandon Wheat Kings lost 6-1 to the Medicine Hat Tigers. Brady Turko had the lone goal for the Wheat Kings who face the Hurricanes in Lethbridge tonight.


The Winnipeg Jets won their home opener. Mark Scheifele scored his 299th and 300th career goals in the Jets 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Scheifele scored the tying goal with 64 seconds left in regulation and then potted the winner 38 seconds into overtime.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers eight-game winning streak came to an end Friday night. The Bombers lost 14-11 to the Toronto Argonauts. The Bombers are 10-7 and will clinch first place in the CFL West if the BC Lions beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders tonight. With last night's win, the Argos joined the Montreal Alouettes and Ottawa Redblacks in the East Division playoffs.
