The Pembina Valley Twisters dropped a 2-1 decision to the defending Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League champion St. James Canucks. Spencer Sabourin scored the lone goal for the Twisters.
Jessica Anderson scored the only goal of the shootout to lift Pembina Valley past Central Plains 3-2. Sophia Cox and Abigail Brigg scored for the Hawks in regulation. Pembina Valley has won back-to-back games after starting the 2024-25 Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League season with three straight losses.
The Winnipeg Jets have won three straight games to open the 2024-25 NHL season. Kyle Connor scored a power play goal 51 seconds into overtime to lift the Jets past the Minnesota Wild 2-1. Mark Scheifele also scored for Winnipeg. His fourth goal of the season with two seconds left in the first period directly off a face-off win and Connor Hellebuyck on the bench for an extra attacker tied the game at 1-1.
The Manitoba Moose edged the Iowa Wild 3-2. Mason Shaw scored the go-ahead goal for the Moose with 4:45 left in the third period.
Aaron Cockerill fired rounds of 68-68-69-69 and finished tied for 13th at the DP World Tour’s Open de France. The Stony Mountain native is in 43rd spot in the Race to Dubai rankings.
