Wednesday will be a busy day in the “Energy City” with two fundraisers set to kick off the festivities and fundraising for this year’s 48th Annual Estevan United Way Telethon.
Southern Plains Co-op, a longstanding supporter of the Estevan United Way, will once again offer up its pumps at two gas bar locations in Estevan. Ten cents from every litre sold will directly benefit the community through the work of the United Way’s member agencies. Helping Hands will also be available for purchase to further support the cause. In an interview on the SUN 102 morning show, Brooke Spagrud, marketing manager of Southern Plains Co-op, shared the Co-op’s close ties with some of those agencies.
"Recently with Fuel Good Day in September, we supported the Family Resource Centre, and we’re also the snack sponsor for the Estevan Public Youth Centre,” Spagrud explained.
In addition to raising funds through Fuel-Up Day for United Way on October 16, Southern Plains Co-op will also be fueling the countless volunteers who help put on the 33-hour live event as a food and drink sponsor. The Co-op will provide refreshments throughout the telethon. “We’re excited about the telethon… trying to keep everyone sugared up and energized,” Spagrud added.
The 48th Annual Estevan United Way Telethon is set to begin at 8 a.m. on Friday with 33 hours of community spirit, local entertainment, and fundraising for the community. Don’t miss your opportunity to help get the fundraising started with Southern Plains Co-op’s Fuel-Up Day for United Way, and also the kickoff event being held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Murray GM in collaboration with Black Beard’s Restaurant. Both events will support the telethon, which runs October 18 and 19 at the Estevan Legion.
