If you want to know about your candidates for mayor and city council, Discover Moose Jaw will have the report you need in advance of Municipal Election Day on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
There are 24 candidates for the six Moose Jaw City Council positions, and five candidates for mayor.
To keep things as digestible as possible, we are asking candidates to limit their response to each question to 75 words or less. Responses exceeding that length will be edited for brevity, with a note informing readers that editing has taken place.
We are asking each candidate to answer the following questions:
- Why are you running for mayor/council?
- Do you have experience in public service/community boards/politics? Do you think experience matters one way or another?
- What topic/policy issue/incident was the tipping point for you?
- What criticisms do you have, if any, for the politics you've seen over the last two or three years?
- What is your plan to compromise/cooperate with fellow council members to accomplish policy goals?
- What else do you want voters to know about you?
- In the interests of transparency, are you co-ordinating or do you share an association with any other candidates, in any way whatsoever?
Candidates will have until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 29 to submit their answers to news@discovermoosejaw.com.
Discover Moose Jaw will interview each mayoral candidate to ask the same questions — the full interviews with candidates for mayor will be transcribed on our website, and available full-length through the Discover Moose Jaw News podcast.
Encourage your municipal election candidates to engage with us so you have the information you need! And make sure you exercise your right to vote on or before Nov. 13.
