The Rouleau Fire Department was joined by at least seven other organizations (including several local families) in Drinkwater on Sunday afternoon to put out a structure fire that eventually destroyed a commercial building.

The building is listed online for $4.7 million as a multi-use, 57,000 sq. ft. commercial opportunity on 8.8 acres of land.

The fire was eventually extinguished with participation from the Wilcox Fire Department, Moose Jaw RCMP, SaskEnergy, SaskPower, Kirby Transportation, the Wallers, and Dwayne Burkitt, according to the Rouleau Fire Department.

The Rouleau department sent seven volunteer firefighters, a pump truck, and two rescue trucks.

There's no word yet on the extent of the damage and/or if anyone was on site at the time and might have been injured. No injuries have been reported to police.

Fire investigators with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency are now investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

Anyone with information about the fire can report it to investigators via the Moose Jaw RCMP by dialing 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) orĀ www.saskcrimestoppers.com.

Drinkwater is just over 20 minutes southeast of Moose Jaw.
