The Strathmore Tenners, a darts team based out of the local legion, won gold over the weekend.
The team took part in the District 9 senior darts playoffs and put six teams from around the area against each other. The event was held at the Strathmore Legion.
"We had teams from Drumheller, Calgary, and Strathmore," said Jenny Schumann, one of the members of the club. "I joined the legion in 1993 and have been playing darts here since then."
Schumann said it was a rough start to the tournament, as the Tenners lost their first three games in a row.
"If we lost one game, we would have had a playoff, but we ended up winning the last three games."
The matches were 501 down double out. Some teams had four players while some had six, as each group was allowed to have two spare players.
By the end of the tournament, the Tenners came out on top, taking home the win and keeping the gold in Strathmore.
"Our team really gelled together. It was such a good time, and there's so much comradery," added Schummer.
Up next for the Tenners is the Alberta-NWT Command Playoffs, held in Innisfail, at the end of February.
