Moose Jaw’s MLA candidates gathered at a nearly full Golden Nugget Centre last night to answer questions from Moose Javians, discuss the most pressing issues, and outline solutions during the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce’s All-Candidates Forum.

The candidates covered many topics during the two-hour session, ranging from healthcare, mental health and addictions, the economy and housing to strategies in support of Moose Jaw’s tourism sector and how they would best represent the needs of the community.

Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce CEO, Rob Clark, mediated the forum and felt that the voices of Moose Jaw’s residents were heard.

“I think the answers are all were pretty good. Some of them had them on the seat of their pants, they had to come up with answers.” said Clark.

I think they all did very well, and it even got intense a couple times, which is not bad. I mean you're putting up a fight for your city. I was very impressed with it.”

Clark noted that the questions fielded by Moose Javians during the forum could potentially influence the platforms of the parties as they continue their election campaigns.

“(During the forum) if one of the parties was talking, the other guys might be picking up on some of the good stories and maybe (their positions) might even turn into something within their party and vice versa. I think there's some good opportunities to take away a little bit from the other party.”
